Speculation & certainty — はず, よう, らしい, そう, かもしれない
接続：Vます形（stem）／い形（〜い を取る）／な形 ＋ そうだ（いい→よさそう、ない→なさそう）
Looks like…, is about to… arrive — judging from the appearance seen before the eyes.
注意 / Note：Exception: いい→よさそう, ない→なさそう. Do not use with things you can immediately tell when you see them: ×きれいそう, ×赤そう.
比較 / Compare：雨が降りそうだ（look at the sky and guess — 様態）／雨が降るそうだ（heard — 伝聞）. The difference is in the connection!
よく出る形 / Common form：Vます形＋そうだ／い形（い→）＋そうだ／〜そうな＋N。
空が暗くなってきた。今にも雨が降りそうだ。
The sky darkened. Looks like it's about to rain.
このケーキ、おいしそうですね。
This cake looks delicious.
