Received from whom — point of view is placed on the recipient. The donor carries に or から.

注意 / Note：If the giver is an organization or company, you must use から: 会社からもらった. With superiors, use humility いただく.

比較 / Compare：友だちが私に本をくれた（viewed from the giver）／私は友だちに本をもらった（viewed from the recipient）— same thing.

よく出る形 / Common form：（私）は（人）に／から Nをもらいました／いただきました。
