接続：普通形 ＋ ものを
Should have been…, but…. Regret, blame: the result could have been better.
注意 / Note：Carry strong feelings of dissatisfaction and regret. Usually goes with 〜ば・〜たら in the previous sentence.
比較 / Compare：〜ものを always comes with regret/blame, often with 〜ば・〜たら in the previous sentence.
よく出る形 / Common form：普通形（〜ば〜た）＋ものを。Can be left off at the end of the sentence: 〜ものを。
早く病院に行けばよかったものを、我慢するから悪化したんだ。
If I had gone to the hospital sooner, I would have been fine, but I just kept trying to endure it, so it got worse.
一言相談してくれればよかったものを。
It would have been better to talk to me for an hour.
素直に謝れば済んだものを、言い訳ばかりして事を大きくした。
I should have just apologized straight away, but instead I just kept making excuses and it just made it bigger.
