〜てほしい / 〜てもらいたい

接続：（人）に＋ Vて形＋ほしい／もらいたい

Want someone to do something — the speaker's wishes directed towards others. The person being asked to carry に.

注意 / Note：Speaking directly to that person is a bit rude — with superiors, you should use ていただけませんか. Negative: 〜ないでほしい.

比較 / Compare：〜たい（I want to do it myself）／〜てほしい（I want someone else to do it）.

よく出る形 / Common form：（人）に Vてほしいです。／Vないでほしい。

もっと日本語を勉強してほしいです。

I want you to learn more Japanese.

父に元気になってもらいたいです。

I hope dad gets better.

ここではたばこを吸わないでほしい。

I hope you don't smoke here.
