技術は誰のものか
では、責任は科学者にあるのだろうか。研究それ自体を悪と呼ぶことはできまい。問題は、成果をどう使うかを決める仕組みの側にある。(2)、研究者が社会と対話する義務を免れるわけではない。自分の研究が何をもたらしうるか、想像(3)という姿勢こそ、現代の科学者に求められているものである。
技術は中立だと言われてきた。しかし本当にそうだろうか。使い方を決めるのは人であり、その人を動かすのは社会である。(4)、技術のあり方を問うことは、そのまま社会のあり方を問うことなのだ。

Explanation: Previous: research starts from pure curiosity. The next part: in just a few decades, it has become a weapon → relationship contrary to expectations → ところが. それゆえ is cause and effect (wrong).

Explanation: Before: the problem lies with the mechanism (not the scientist). After: but they are not exempted from the obligation to dialogue → play → とはいえ.
