接続：名の／動普通形 ＋ 手前（てまえ）
Because I was too late... (in front of others), I had to.... Because of face, I can't help but do it.
注意 / Note：Shade: bound by eyes/promise to others, even if you don't want to, you have to do it.
比較 / Compare：〜手前（for face in front of others）／〜から（general reason）。There are always “other people's eyes” here.
よく出る形 / Common form：名の／動普通形＋手前＋（〜わけにはいかない・〜ざるを得ない）.
できると言った手前、今さらやめるとは言えない。
Since I said I can do it, I can't say I can't quit now.
後輩の手前、弱音を吐くわけにはいかない。
In front of my juniors, I can't complain.
大丈夫だと言った手前、今になって断れない。
Since I already said it's okay, I can't refuse now.
