接続：ふつう形 ＋ と言っていました
(The other person) said that… — transmitted the third person's words to the listener.
注意 / Note：Different from 〜と言いました in that っていました emphasizes transferring words. This is the standard form when texting someone back.
比較 / Compare：〜と言いました（just tell the truth）／〜と言っていました（pass it on to you）.
よく出る形 / Common form：（人）は 〜と言っていました。
田中さんは明日休むと言っていました。
