Conditional sentence — 仮定/確定, unreal assumption, opening statement
用法：〜ば／〜たら／〜ていたら ＋ 〜のに・〜ところだった・〜ばよかった・〜ものを
Assume something did not happen, with a feeling of regret or relief.
注意 / Note：Reading the sentence 反実仮想 must infer the opposite truth: “乗っていたら危なかった” → in fact, DO NOT get on the train so it is not dangerous.
比較 / Compare：反実仮想 → infer the opposite truth: example sentence meaning the fact did not stop.
よく出る形 / Common form：〜ば／〜たら／〜ていたら＋〜のに・〜ところだった・〜ばよかった・〜ものを.
事故を起こしたあの電車に乗っていたら、危ないところだった。
If I had gotten on that train that had the accident, it would have been dangerous.（reality: didn't get on）
言葉の使い方に注意していれば、誤解されないで済んだものを。
Should have paid attention to the word usage so it wouldn't have been misunderstood.（Actual: didn't pay attention）
あの時やめていれば、こんなことにはならなかった。
If we had stopped then, it wouldn't have turned out like this.
