When〜
接続：Vている／Vない／Nの + 間・間に
during about / during. 間: two states lasting together. 間に: an action or change that happens at a time within that period.
注意 / Note：Choose 間 when the following clause is long; Choose 間に when the following clause is a one-time event or has a completion point.
比較 / Compare：子どもが寝ている間、勉強した (study all the time). 寝ている間に、洗濯した (washing done in the meantime). Same 課: 〜うちに／〜てからでないと／〜てからでなければ／〜ところだ(+助詞) — these models are often mistaken for each other, read the 接続 line carefully and then decide.
夏休みの間、毎日アルバイトをしました。
During the summer vacation, I worked overtime every day.
母が買い物をしている間に、夕飯を作りました。
I cooked dinner while mom went shopping.
AIがデータを処理している間に、次の実験の準備をしました。
While the AI processes the data, we prepare for the next experiment.
